Class Descriptions:

(listed in alphabetical order):

Advanced Yoga:

This is a vinyasa style yoga. This class is for you if you have taken yoga before or if you are already physically fit. This class will focus on strength, stretching, and endurance. This is more of a “workout” style yoga which will end with 10-15 minutes of slower poses & deeper stretches before final resting pose. This class is similar to power yoga.

Beginner Yoga (aka Beginner’s Basics):

This class is for the brand new to yoga or those who have been taking yoga but want to understand the practice better or make sure they are doing the poses in proper alignment. You will learn the names of the poses, how to move from one pose to another, proper breathing techniques, how to use props and make the pose work for your body, and how to best support yourself while in a yoga class. It is never too late or too early to start a yoga practice!

Gentle Yoga:

This class is beginner friendly, meaning that if you’ve never taken a yoga class, you will be able to do this class! All of the poses are seated, so there is no transition between standing to seated except for the very beginning of class (we start with a gentle joint opening series that is standing before we move to the floor for all seated poses). We move slowly and gently. Poses are held for around 30-60 seconds with longer holds towards the end of class. This class is wonderful for you to begin your yoga journey. If you have an injury, we can *probably* work around it in this class.

Intermediate Yoga:

This is a vinyasa style yoga. This is for you if you’ve done some yoga before or if you are able to stand up easily without support, can handle getting up and down from sitting or floor poses to standing poses, and have no major current injuries. It is okay if you don’t know the names of poses or how to get into them perfectly. You’ll learn this by coming to class. This class will help you stretch your body well and support you in slowly increasing your physical strength, especially of your legs, arms, and shoulders. Everything is always optional & modifications are offered. Poses are held for 3-10 breaths, depending on the pose. The class ends with a few longer held poses before final resting pose.

Mat Pilates:

Each class will begin with mindfulness, breath, and active release before moving into the more challenging movements of Pilates. Over the hour, the body and mind will be challenged in amazing ways and the student will leave feeling empowered and stronger. Instructor will always offer a beginner, intermediate, and advanced option on movements so all students will feel capable of completing their workout. Class will end with gentle stretching and mindfulness techniques.

Restorative Yoga:

This class is focused on helping your mind, body, spirit, and most especially - your nervous system - relax. It is intended to release deep physical and emotional tension and stress. This class is for you if you need to rest, relax, and reset. There is no physical strength involved and very minimal stretching. All of the poses are very relaxed, whether seated or lying down. There is no standing at all. This class is great for beginners and seasoned yogis alike. This class is also good if you have any injuries. **Candlelight Restorative Yoga is simply a restorative yoga class with candles as the only source of light. This class is held at different times during the year depending on the time of sunset.

Yin Yoga:

Yin is a specialized form of yoga that focuses on helping the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual body release stuck energy. Yin poses are designed to help clear the meridian lines through the body. All poses (except for 2, which aren’t in every class) are seated on the floor. The poses are held for 3-5 minutes. This allows plenty of time for the connective tissues to stretch and release stress. We suggest taking at least one yin class a week in addition to another form of yoga (gentle, intermediate, or advanced) for the most well rounded yoga practice. **Meditative Yin Yoga is a yin yoga class that includes a guided mediation.

Yoga for Self-Defense:

This class is an empowering fusion of disciplines of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Yoga. This unique class seamlessly blends the mindfulness and flexibility of yoga with the strategic techniques of BJJ, offering a holistic approach to self-defense. No experience is necessary! You will be guided to increase your physical strength, flexibility, and agility as well as self-confidence and awareness. Class will begin with a vinyasa style yoga and lead up to teaching of at least one self-defense technique.

Yoga for Trauma:

This is a specific style of yoga for those who have been impacted by any type of trauma, whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual, at any point in life (childhood trauma, intimate partner trauma, adult child trauma, situational trauma) for any length of time (single occurrence, continued and ongoing trauma, previous trauma). This form of yoga is gentle in nature although it can include strengthening postures and is tailored to the individual dependent upon their experiences and needs. Yoga for Trauma also pairs well with Reiki, which helps release some of the energetic imprint of the traumatic experience(s). Reiki can be provided, if desired, as a hover or a light touch. Currently Yoga for Trauma is only offered privately. Schedule here.

Yoga Nidra:

This class is for you if you need to relax! Yoga Nidra is also referred to as “yogic sleep.” It is a special type of a guided meditation. There is no movement in this class. The entire class is laying down in a restful pose and listening to the teacher as they guide you. It is deeply relaxing for the mind, body, and spirit. And while we would prefer that you stay awake, it’s okay if you fall asleep! Yoga Nidra works on the deeper layers to help your body turn on its self healing abilities. One hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to three hours of sleep!

All styles of yoga are available for private classes.
